| Thursday's Child began as a collaborative effort between WGME 13 and A Family For ME in April of 2001. The goal of Thursday's Child is to raise awareness surrounding foster care and adoption, with a focus on recruiting adoptive families for Maine's foster children. Every Thursday, Sarah Long introduces WGME 13's viewers to a child or sibling group, from toddlers to teens in need of an adoptive family.
After more than four years, more than 80 children have participated in the Thursday's Child program and nearly one quarter of them are currently in adoptive families.
